Frequently Asked Questions About
Fixed Deposits

SingFinance is a licensed finance company in Singapore that offers fixed deposit account with a low minimum placement of S$500 at the prevailing board rate.

Its accessible entry point makes it easier for first-time depositors and conservative savers to start a fixed deposit account without committing large sums upfront.

Most fixed deposit providers in Singapore, including SingFinance, offer three main maturity options:

  • Roll over both the principal and interest into a new fixed deposit at the prevailing board rate for the same tenor.
  • Roll over only the principal at the prevailing board rate for the same tenor, with interest earned credited to the depositor's selected linked savings account.
  • Full withdrawal, where both the principal and interest are credited back to the depositor's selected linked savings account upon maturity.

SingFinance customers can update maturity instructions any time before the maturity date through the SIF Mobile app or at any branch.

Several Singapore fixed deposit providers offer senior citizen bonus interest, including SingFinance. The SingFinance senior citizen bonus adds 0.125% p.a. above the prevailing board rate on fixed deposits placed for 12 months and above.

Eligibility starts at age 55, and the bonus is automatically applied based on the customer's age recorded on Singpass at the time of placement.

Note: This bonus applies to board rates only and not to daily special rates. Senior depositors comparing options should weigh both the bonus and the underlying rate when choosing a placement.

Early withdrawal of a fixed deposit at SingFinance is permitted, although it will result in the loss of accrued interest. A levy may apply, subject to market conditions.

The principal sum remains intact and is returned to the depositor in full, unless there is a levy applied. Specific charges and the treatment of interest depend on the placement tenor and the product terms.

Refer to the Terms and Conditions governing Savings and Fixed/Call Deposit Accounts for the exact treatment, or speak with branch staff before proceeding.

To make an early withdrawal from a SingFinance fixed deposit, customers should visit any SingFinance branch with their original NRIC. Branch staff will verify identity, process the early withdrawal request, and confirm the amount to be returned.

Early withdrawals are typically subject to interest forfeiture. We recommend that customers review the full terms and conditions, or speak with an officer, before requesting an early withdrawal as this may affect overall returns.

Licensed finance companies in Singapore, including SingFinance, offer SDIC-insured fixed deposits. Singapore dollar deposits held by non-bank depositors in eligible accounts are covered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC) for up to S$100,000 in aggregate per depositor per Scheme member, under the Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners' Protection Schemes Act 2011.

Most Singapore fixed deposit providers, including SingFinance, allow depositors to choose their preferred tenor from a range of options. SingFinance offers tenors from 1 month to 60 months, covering both short-term cash management needs and long-term wealth-building goals.

Daily special rates are available across selected tenors for personal account holders, while board rates apply across the full tenor range for both personal and business accounts.

For visitors comparing complementary products, the GoSavers Account and GIRO Saver Account offer flexible alternatives without a fixed tenor.
